Silbermann (organ building family)

Silbermann is the name of a family of organ builders in the Baroque era . The organs built by their members are still highly valued today and are known to a wider audience as the Silbermann organs . They also built harpsichords , spinets and pianos .

Known family members

• Andreas Silbermann (1678–1734), brother of Gottfried Silbermann
• Gottfried Silbermann (1683–1753), brother of Andreas Silbermann, the German "inventor" of the fortepiano (fortepiano)
• Johann Andreas Silbermann (1712–1783), son of Andreas Silbermann
• Johann Heinrich Silbermann (1727–1799), the youngest son of Andreas Silbermann, left 14 spinets.
• Johann Daniel Silbermann (1717–1766), son of Andreas Silbermann
