Band history

Silly Wizard was founded in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1971 by Gordon Jones, Bob Thomas and Johnny Cunningham. In 1972 Andy M. Stewart came from the band "Puddock's Well". After they recorded their first album Silly Wizard with Alasdair Donaldson, who played the accordion, and bass player Neil Adams, they were soon followed by the younger brother of Johnny, Phil Cunningham (accordion) and Martin Hadden (also from "Puddock's Well") replaced on bass. After their third album So Many Partings , Bob Thomas left the band. Before recording Wild and Beautiful , Johnny Cunningham settled in the United States and only performed sporadically with the others, but he was always there when they played near his home. But in fact the band had consisted of Phil Cunningham, Andy M. Stewart, Martin Hadden and Gordon Jones since 1975.

After 17 years of band history, they released their last album Glint of Silver in 1986; their last concert was in April 1988.
