The Silscheder tunnel is a former railway tunnel on the railway line Witten Schwelm in the district Silschede , Gevelsberg . It is 845 m long. It was put into operation in 1934. During the Second World War, aircraft of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 type were repaired here under the cover name “Buchfink” by the company Hansen & Co. from Münster. It was shut down in 1983. It is part of the cycle route planning in North Rhine-Westphalia .
