The Telsen department is located in the north of the Chubut province in southern Argentina and is one of the 15 administrative units in the province.

It borders the province of Río Negro to the north, the Biedma department to the east, the Gaiman and Mártires departments to the south, and the Gastre department to the west .

The capital of the Telsen department is the Telsen of the same name .
