The Gaiman Department is located in the eastern center of the Chubut Province in southern Argentina and is one of 15 administrative units in the province.

It borders on the Telsen and Biedma departments to the north, the Rawson department to the east, the Florentino Ameghino department to the south and the Martires department to the west .

The capital of the Gaiman Department is the Gaiman of the same name .

The Florentino Ameghino reservoir is located on the territory of the department .
