The Gastre Department is located in the north of the Chubut Province in southern Argentina and is one of the 15 administrative units in the province.
It borders the province of Río Negro to the north, the departments of Telsen and Mártires to the east, the department of Paso de Indios to the south and the departments of Languiñeo and Cushamen to the west .
The capital of the Gastre department is the Gastre of the same name .
