Tasmin Little
Tasmin Little OBE (born May 13, 1965 in London ) is a British violinist . She plays a Guadagnini violin from 1757. From 2000 to 2014 she played the “Regent” Stradivarius on loan from the Royal Academy of Music .
Life
Tasmin Little studied under Pauline Scott at the Yehudi Menuhin School and later at the Guildhall School of Music in London. She was best known for her finals in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 1982. Her father is the actor George Little.
In 1988 she made her professional solo debut with the Hallé Orchestra . In 1996 she was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Bradford .
So far she has made 23 recordings with a repertoire ranging from Max Bruch and Johannes Brahms to Mieczysław Karłowicz and Arvo Pärt .
