Telsen is the capital of the Telsen department of the same name in the province of Chubut in southern Argentina . The distance to the provincial capital Rawson is 176 kilometers.

Geography and climate

Telsen is located on the southern edge of the Meseta de Somuncurá. This zone has a mild microclimate with thermal water springs and vegetation that give it the character of an oasis. During the first half of the 20th century there were vineyards that made Telsen famous for its regional wines. The viticulture was not continued.

Telsen was founded on December 9, 1898 by John Marley.
