Silvana Tenreyro (born September 6, 1973 ) is a British - Italian - Argentine economist .

Career

Tenreyro grew up in Tucumán, northern Argentina. After graduating from the National University of Tucumán with a degree in Economics in 1997 , Tenreyro continued her studies in the United States . At Harvard University , she initially completed her Master of Arts in Economics in 1999, and completed her Ph.D. in 2002 under the supervision of Alberto Alesina , Robert J. Barro and Kenneth S. Rogoff. - Successfully complete your studies at the university.

Tenreyro worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston between 2002 and 2004 , after which she went to the London School of Economics as an Assistant Professor . There she was promoted to associate professor in 2008 , and in 2012 she was appointed full professor at the university. In July 2017 she was nominated for a term of three years as an external specialist in the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England called the the official bank rate sets.

Tenreyro is particularly concerned with economics, with a particular focus on monetary and foreign economic theory .

Tenreyro has been a Fellow of the British Academy since July 2018 , and has been an affiliate at the London Center for Economic Policy Research since 2006 . From 2018 Tenreyro was President of the European Economic Association for one year , and between 2010 and 2013 she headed the organization's Women in Economics Committee . She is or was co-editor ("Associate Editor") of various economic periodicals such as Economica (2009-2014), The Economic Journal (2009-2015), Journal of Monetary Economics (2010-2014) and Quarterly Journal of Economics (since 2019).
