Silver Ridge ( English for silverback ) is a long, snow-covered and up to 580 m high mountain range in the Ross Dependency part of the Transantarctic Mountains . On the northern flank of the Nimrod Glacier , west of the confluence of the Algie Glacier, it is a landmark that can be seen from afar.
The southern group of a campaign carried out by the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition from 1960 to 1961 gave it its descriptive name, as no rocky outcrops can be seen on the steeply sloping flanks of the ridge through the snow cover.
