Silverdale is a parish of 1500 people, 14 km north of Lancaster , in County Lancashire .

Silverdale is in the Arnside and Silverdale Area of ​​Outstanding Natural Beauty .

The Lancashire Coastal Way goes south from here to Freckleton ; the Cumbria Coastal Way goes north from here to Gretna .

The 19th century writer Elizabeth Gaskell spent her vacations in Silverdale on a regular basis. The poet Gordon Bottomley lived in Silverdale from 1914 until his death in 1948.

In September 2011, the Silverdale treasure was found by a probe in an unspecified field on the outskirts of Silverdale. The find is the fourth largest Viking treasure discovered so far in England, which was buried there around the year 900 AD.
