Arnside and Silverdale is an Area of ​​Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in England . The area is on the border between Lancashire and Cumbria on the edge of Morecambe Bay . With 75 km² it is a small AONB that lies between the confluence of the River Kent , the River Keer and the A6. The area received its status in 1972.

Arnside and Silverdale has a range of low hills of limestone from the Carboniferous as the Arnside Knott and Warton Crag . Between the hills there is grassland and small trees made of ash , oak and hazelnut . The coastal region has large salt marshes that are constantly being changed by the River Kent.

The Leighton Moss Nature Reserve is owned by the RSPB and is home to many birds in the largest reed area in northwest England. There are also 15 Sites of Special Scientific Interest in Arndale and Silverdale which are home to rare butterflies .

The two largest towns in the area are Arnside and Silverdale .
