The River Kent is a river in Cumbria , England . The Kent has its origin in the mountains of Kentmere above the Kentmere Reservoir . In its upper reaches, the river flows through the Lake District National Park .
The River Kent flows through the towns of Kentmere, Staveley , Burneside , Kendal and Sedgwick . At Sedgwick, the river passes through a gorge that has a number of rapids and small waterfalls, making the section popular with kayakers after heavy rain.
After a distance of 32 km, the Kent flows into Morecambe Bay at Arnside . In spring tides it is possible to see a tidal wave in Kent near Arnside.
