The Gilpin is a river in the Lake District in Cumbria , England .
The river has its source near Gilpin Lodge east of Bowness-on-Windermere . The river is said to have its name from the Gilpin family, who were large landowners in the Kentmere Valley.
The river flows past Crosthwaite and the River Pool joins the Gilpin at the hamlet of Row in the Lyth Valley .
The Gilpin flows into the River Kent .
