Arnside

Arnside is a place and a civil parish in Cumbria , England with 2301 inhabitants (2001). The place is located at the mouth of the River Kent in the northeast corner of Morecambe Bay within the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty .
The place is on the Furness Line of the railway from Lancaster to Barrow-in-Furness , which crosses the River Kent on a viaduct at Arnside . The port of Arnside silted up when the viaduct was built.
On the southern edge of the town near the Arnside Knott , a small mountain that overlooks the town, is the Arnside Tower . The Arnside Tower was probably built in the 15th century as a fortified residential tower ( Peel Tower ) and is now a Grade II protected monument.
