Upper Nidderdale

Nidderdale is one of the Yorkshire Dales and is in the county of North Yorkshire , England . The area became an Area of ​​Outstanding Natural Beauty ( AONB ) on February 14, 1994 . It mainly occupies the upper part of the Nidd river valley. The Nidd flows through the valley first to the south and is dammed up to form some reservoirs, the largest are Angram Reservoir , Scar House Reservoir and Gouthwaite Reservoir , to later turn to the east and finally flow into the Ouse at Nun Monkton .

The Nidderdale Area of ​​Outstanding Natural Beauty covers 603 km². It borders the Yorkshire Dales National Park, but is not part of it.

Settlements in this area are Pateley Bridge , Wath , Bewerley , Glasshouses , Ramsgill , Lofthouse , Summerbridge , Hampsthwaite , Birstwith , Darley , Kettlesing , Felliscliffe and Middlesmoor .

The Nidderdale Museum is located in Pateley Bridge .
