Silviu Curticeanu

Silviu Curticeanu (born October 15, 1933 in Timișoara ) is a former Romanian lawyer and politician of the Romanian Workers' Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) , who, among other things, was a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee between 1984 and 1989 ( Central Committee) and in 1989 was a candidate for the Political Executive Committee of the Central Committee of the PCR.

Life

Curticeanu began after attending school in 1953 to study law at the University of Bucharest , which he graduated in 1957. He then worked as a judge at the District People's Court in Cluj between 1957 and 1965 and during this time he joined the Romanian Workers' Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) as a member. In 1965 he took over the position of Head of the Directorate for Civil Litigation at the General Prosecutor's Office and held this position until February 14, 1972. In addition, he became a member of the Executive Committee of the Central Council of the Lawyers' Association in 1966 and in 1967 also earned a doctorate in law at the Babeş-Bolyai University of Cluj .

On February 14, 1972, he moved to the party administration and was head of the Central Committee's department for military and judicial affairs until July 23, 1975. At the Eleventh Party Congress of the PCR from November 24th to 27th, 1974 Curticeanu became a candidate for the Central Committee. On July 23, 1975, until November 3, he assumed the functions of secretary to the President of the Socialist Republic of Romania and secretary of the Council of State, the collective body that provides the President. At the same time he was a member of the Council of State from July 23, 1975 to December 22, 1989.

Curticeanu was elected a member of the Central Committee at the Twelfth Party Congress of the PCR from November 19 to 23, 1979 , to which he belonged until December 22, 1989. In 1980 he became a member of the Grand National Assembly (Marea Adunare Națională) for the first time , where he represented the constituency of Pogoanele No. 5 until 1985 and then between 1985 and 1989 the constituency of Dragalina No. 4 . In 1982 he was temporarily secretary of the executive office of the National Council of Working People in Industry, Construction, Transport, Circular Economy and Finance and then took on the role of head of the office department of the Central Committee of the PCR between November 3, 1982 and December 22, 1989.

At the ZK plenary session on March 22, 1984, Curticeanu became a member of the Central Committee's secretariat and was a member of this party committee until December 22, 1989. In 1988 he was also secretary of the central commission for the organization of production processes and the highest capitalization of raw materials and materials.

Most recently, Curticeanu was also a candidate for the Political Executive Committee of the PCR Central Committee at the Fourteenth Party Congress of the PCR from November 20 to 24, 1989 and remained in this position until December 22, 1989.

Curticeanu has received several awards for his longstanding services and received, among others, the Order of Labor Third Class (Ordinul Muncii) in 1967 , the Order of Tudor Vladimirescu Fifth Class (Ordinul Tudor Vladimirescu) in 1972 , the Order of Tudor Vladimirescu Second Class in 1981, and the Order of Tudor Vladimirescu in 1984 Second class and 1984 Order of Labor First Class.
