PCR party conference
The PCR party congress was the highest sovereign of the Romanian Communist Party (Partidul Comunist Român) or its predecessors Partidul Comunist din România (PCR) and from March 1948 Partidul Muncitoresc Român (Romanian Workers' Party, PMR). The Central Committee , its secretariat and the party's Politburo were elected at the party congresses. The party congresses after 1948 all took place in Bucharest .
First to fifth party congresses of the PCR 1921 to 1948
At the First Party Congress in Bucharest in May 1921, Gheorghe Cristescu was re- elected General Secretary of the PCR and in this capacity at the Second Party Congress in October 1922 in Ploiesti . On the III. The party congress, which took place in Vienna in August 1924 , was followed by the election of Elek Köblös as general secretary, who in turn was followed by Vitali Holostenco , who was confirmed at the fourth party congress in July 1928 in Kharkiv . In December 1928 Alexander Ștefanski was elected Holostenco's successor at the V party congress in Gorikovo , before he was replaced by Boris Ștefanov in 1936 , who in turn was followed in 1940 by Ștefan Foriş .
At the National Conference (Conferința Națională), which took place from October 16 to 22, 1945, Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej was elected Secretary General and Vasile Luca and Ana Pauker were elected secretaries.
