Petre Borilă (birth name: Iordan Drăgan Rusev ; born February 13, 1906 in Silistra , Bulgaria ; † January 2, 1973 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian politician of the Romanian Communist Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) who was a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PMR between 1952 and 1965 . Borilă worked as an electrical mechanic after attending school and joined the Union of Young Communists UTCdR (Uniunea Tineretului Comunist din România) in 1922 . In 1924 he became a member of the then Communist Party PCR (Partidul Comunist din România) and was temporarily secretary of the Dobragea Regional Committee . He was arrested twice because of his political activities, the first for a month in Sofia and for three months in Košice .

He took part in the Spanish Civil War and was there in 1937 political and military representative of the Romanian volunteer contingent in the International Brigades . During the Second World War he was in the Soviet Union and took part in various military and political actions from Moscow . He was one of the founding members of the volunteer division " Tudor Vladimirescu " and acted as its deputy political commissioner.

At the sixth party congress of the PMR from February 21 to 23, 1948, Borilă was elected a member of the PMR Central Committee for the first time and belonged to it for more than 21 years until August 12, 1969. In 1948 he became a member of the Grand National Assembly (Marea Adunare Națională) for the first time , where he briefly represented the constituency of Bucharest . At the same time he was from February 7, 1949 to March 20, 1950, Vice Minister for Defense.

At a plenum of the Central Committee of the PMR on May 27, 1952, Borilă, who was also a graduate of the party college, became a member of the Central Committee's Politburo and was a member of it until July 23, 1965. In 1952 he was again a member of the Grand National Assembly, where he represented the constituency of Stalin-Vest until 1957 and then between 1957 and 1965 the constituency of Steagul Roşu and most recently from 1965 to 1969 the constituency No. 1 Steagul Roşu .
