János Fazekás

János Fazekás (born February 15, 1926 in Lupeni , Hunedoara district ; † March 6, 2004 in Budapest ) was a Romanian politician of the Romanian Workers' Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) , who, among other things, between 1954 and in 1965 a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee (CC), from 1967 to 1974 a member of the Executive Committee of the Central Committee and between 1974 and 1982 a member of the Political Executive Committee of the Central Committee.

Fazekás was also Vice Prime Minister between 1965 and 1982 and also held several ministerial offices.

Life

Fazekás, who belonged to the Magyar minority in Romania , worked after attending school from 1938 to 1941 in a carpentry shop in Odorhei and then attended the local high school and normal school between 1941 and 1947. In addition, he was secretary of the local Union of Young Communists UTCdR (Uniunea Tineretului Comunist din România) and joined the then Communist Party PCR (Partidul Comunist din România) as a member in February 1945 . He then worked as a regional instructor of the party and then from 1947 to 1948 as an instructor of the Central Committee and at the same time a member of the Central Committee of the Progressive Youth (Tineretului Progresist) .

On March 25, 1961, Fazekás took over the post of Minister for the Food Industry (Ministrul Industriei Alimentare) and held this post until August 20, 1965. After being a candidate from March 22, 1965 to December 1, 1967, he was accepted on 1. December 1967 member of the Executive Committee of the Central Committee of the PCR and held this office until November 28, 1974. He was also from August 21, 1965 to March 22, 1975 Vice President of the Council of Ministers (Vicepreședinte al Consiliului de Miniștri) and between March 22, 1974 and May 21, 1980 Minister of Internal Trade (Ministrul Comerțului Interior) . On March 27, he also became a member of the Office of the Commission on Organizational Issues Party, state, mass and non-governmental organizations at the Central Committee of the PCR. His last position was between April 28, 1980 and May 21, 1982, President of the Council for the Coordination of the Production of Mass Consumer Goods.
