Vasile Musat

Vasile Muşat (born March 15, 1926 in Călineşti , Argeş district ; † 1999 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian diplomat and politician of the Romanian Communist Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) , who among other things from 1965 Ambassador to Cuba until 1971 , Secretary of the Central Committee of the PCR between 1978 and 1979 and Ambassador to Mozambique and Lesotho from 1983 to 1990 .

Life

First Secretary of the Youth Union and Member of Parliament

After attending school, Muşat completed vocational training as a wood turner and joined the then Communist Party PCR (Partidul Comunist din România) as a member in June 1945 . In the following years he was active as a functionary in the Union of Young Working People UTM (Uniunea Tineretului Muncitor) , the youth organization of the party, and between March 21, 1949 and June 30, 1956 was a member of the secretariat of the UTM Central Committee from June 10 to August 22, 1952 as secretary and then between August 22, 1952 and August 1, 1954 as first secretary of the UTM Central Committee.

In 1952 he became a member of the Grand National Assembly (Marea Adunare Națională) for the first time and represented the Rahova constituency there until 1957 . He then completed a degree in political and economic sciences as well as a degree at the Academy for Social and Political Sciences " Ștefan Gheorghiu ".

Ambassador and Central Committee Secretary

Then Muşat became ambassador to Cuba on March 20, 1965 and held this position for more than six years until May 18, 1971.
