Virgil Cazacu (born September 1, 1927 in Zorleni , Vaslui district ) is a former Romanian politician of the Romanian Communist Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) , who was among other things ambassador to the Socialist between 1974 and 1978 Federal Republic of Yugoslavia , from 1978 to 1989 member of the Political Executive Committee of the Central Committee (CC) of the PCR and from 1978 to 1982 member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCR. Life

After attending five-year primary school, Cazacu began training as a machinist in 1940 and worked in this profession from 1944 to 1949 after it had finished. He first became a member of the trade union in 1944 and, in 1945, the Union of Communist Youth UTC (Uniunea Tineretului Comunist) , the party's youth association. In addition to his professional activity, he attended evening school from 1945 to 1949 and was at times a member of the left-wing farmers' party Front der Pflüger (Frontul Plugarilor) led by Petru Groza , before he joined the then Communist Party PCR (Partidul Comunist din România) as a member in December 1947 . In the following years he worked as an activist in the union and the UTC and most recently in 1949 a member of the organization office of the basic organization in the army arsenal of Bucharest and a sub-commission for the review of party members.

Cazacu then worked in the Dinamo electrical machine factory in Bucharest, initially as a technical controller from 1949 to 1950, then as section head, and from 1951 to May 1952 as deputy head of the research department and secretary of the party committee. He also completed evening courses in mathematics and physics between 1949 and 1954 and was also a candidate for the București-Gheorghe-Gheorghiu-Dej party committee from May 1952 to May 1953, a district of Bucharest named after the then First Secretary of the PMR Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej . At the same time, between May 1952 and May 1953, he was also the deputy head of the department of leadership of the party, trade unions and UTM in the Bucharest City Party Committee.

After completing his work as Central Committee secretary, Cazacu became first secretary of the party committee and president of the executive committee of the People's Council in Prahova County , the most populous district in Romania after the capital city of Bucharest (Municipiul Bucureşti) on August 11, 1982 .
