Dumitru Coliu (birth name: Dimităr Kolev ; born November 7, 1907 in Vasilieva , Caliacra County , Kingdom of Romania , † 1985 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian major general and politician of the Romanian Workers' Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 of the PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) .

Life

Start of political career and World War II

Coliu was in 1923 a member of the union of skinners and 1925, the former Romanian Communist Party PCDR (Partidul Comunist din România) . At the same time he joined the Revolutionary Organization of the Dobrudscha DRO (Dobrujanska revoluționna organizația) as a member in 1925 and was first secretary of a city committee in 1930 and a member of a district committee in 1931. In 1935 he became a member of the PCdR regional committee in Dobruja and served as secretary of this regional committee between 1937 and 1940. In addition, he became a member of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PCdR in 1938 and fled to the Soviet Union in 1940 . During the Second World War he joined the armed forces ( Armata Română ) and in 1943 became a captain and political officer of the 2nd infantry regiment of the 1st Romanian Volunteer Infantry Division "Tudor Vladimirescu" , of which he was political commissioner between August 1944 and August 1945. Post-war period, member of parliament and party official

At the National Conference (Conferința Națională) , which took place from October 16 to 22, 1945, Coliu was elected a member of the PCdR Central Committee and was a member of this until November 23, 1979. At the same time he was from 1946 to December 29, 1947 head of the Central Committee Department for Military Affairs and then between December 29, 1947 and 1949 General Secretary for Administrative Affairs in the Ministry of National Defense. On June 2, 1955, he became President of the State Control Commission and held this position until April 15, 1971. He was also between March 25, 1961 and August 21, 1965 a member of the parliamentary committee for the drafting of a new constitution and from 1969 to 1975 President of the parliamentary committee on agriculture and forestry. At the same time he was President of the Party Control Commission between June 25, 1960 and July 23, 1965. At the ninth party congress of the PCR (July 19 to 24, 1965) he was elected as a candidate for the Executive Committee of the Central Committee and held this function until August 12, 1969. At the same time he acted between July 23, 1965 and August 12, 1969 as President of the Central Party College of the PCR.

Most recently, Coliu became a member of the National Council for Environmental Protection and Nature Conservation on March 9, 1974, and in 1975 a member of the Supreme Council for Economic and Social Development. He also served from March 22, 1975 until he left the Grand National Assembly in 1980 as President of the Parliamentary Committee for People's Councils and State Administration.
