Mihai Gere (born September 2, 1919 in Timișoara , Timiș County ; † October 7, 1997 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian politician of the Romanian Communist Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) , who among other things between 1969 and 1974 member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PCR.

Gere, who belonged to the Magyar minority in Romania , worked as a bricklayer at the Hubert Gallasch company in Timișoara between 1935 and 1940 after attending primary school and three-year vocational school . In addition, he was involved in 1940 as a member of the Union of Young Communists UTCdR (Uniunea Tineretului Comunist din România) , but was arrested in 1940 for his political activities and was a political prisoner in Caransebeş prison until 1944 and then in Văcăreşti. After his release he was an activist in the UTCdR committee in Timiș County and Torontál County from 1944 to 1945 . On August 23, 1944, he joined the then Communist Party PCR (Partidul Comunist din România) as a member.

After the end of the war, Gere served from 1945 to 1946 as vice-president for the organization of the Progressive Youth Association (Tineretului Progresist) in Timiș County and was then an activist of the party committee in the third district of Timișoara between 1946 and 1947, before he was an activist in the youth section of the party committee in Timiș County . In 1948 he was temporarily director of an organization course for peasant party cadres in Timișoara and then between 1948 and 1949 an activist in the propaganda section of the party committee in Timiș County.
