Ion Sârbu

Ion Sârbu (born January 25, 1924 in Câmpina , Prahova district ; † August 17, 1997 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian politician of the Romanian Communist Party PCdR (Partidul Comunist din România) , from 1948 PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) , who among other things was secretary of the Central Committee (ZK) from 1988 to 1989 .

Life

Sârbu attended the Arts and Crafts School in his native town of Câmpina from 1936 to 1940 and then worked as a carpenter for the Steaua Română oil company from 1940 to 1946 . During this time he joined the Romanian Communist Party PCdR (Partidul Comunist din România) in June 1945 . After he was secretary of the oil workers' union in Câmpina between August 1946 and May 1947, he attended a six-month course at the party school in 1947 and was then an activist and head of the propaganda section of the party committee in Prahova County from 1947 to June 1949 . Between June 1949 and January 1950 he was a graduate of the " Andrei Alexandrowitsch Schdanow " University of Social Sciences and then served from February 1950 to 1968 as Secretary for Propaganda in the Ploiesti Party Committee . During this time he graduated from 1955 to 1958 at the party college " Ștefan Gheorghiu " . At the ninth party conference of the PCR (July 19 to 24, 1965) he became a member of the Central Revision Commission, which was a member until August 12, 1969.

After that, Sârbu was first secretary of the PCR party committee between 1968 and 1976 and also president of the executive committee of the People's Council in Buzau County . In 1969 he also became a member of the Grand National Assembly (Marea Adunare Națională) for the first time , where he initially represented the constituency Beceni No. 12 , between 1975 and 1980 the constituency Nehoiu No. 7 , from 1980 to 1985 the constituency Morărești No. 10 and most recently between 1985 and in 1989 the constituency Toplița No. 5 . Between 1976 and 1978 he was first deputy head of the organization department of the Central Committee, secretary of the National Council of the Front of Democracy and the Socialist Unit FDUS (Frontul democrației și unității socialiste) and a member of the National Council of the People of Labor (Oamenilor Muncii) . Subsequently, from 1978 to 1984 he acted as first secretary of the PCR party committee in the Argeș district and, in 1984, briefly as secretary of the party committee in the Central Committee, before he was vice-president of the Central Council for Labor Control of Economic Affairs from June 6, 1984 to December 1, 1989 and social activities was.
