Rolf Langebartels

Rolf Langebartels (* 1941 in Mirow in Mecklenburg ) is a German visual artist who works in the fields of photography , kinetic art and sound art . He has lived in Berlin since 1961 .

Career

After studying the theoretical mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin , he received his doctorate in 1974 at the Department of Cybernetics Dr. Ing. He has been working as an artist since 1977. Since 1978 his work has been shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions. Rolf Langebartels is a member of the International Artists Committee and a member of the Free Academy of the Arts Mannheim.

Artist

In addition to his photographic work, Rolf Langebartels is primarily concerned with installations and equilibrium sculptures. In recent years his interest has been concentrated on sculptural work with sound: table concerts with personal computers, sound installations and concerts of room-related music based on electroacoustic feedback (cable car music ). His sculptures, performances and concerts in the field of sound art or audio art have been presented at many festivals in Germany and other European countries.

Rolf Langebartels founded the Giannozzo Gallery in Berlin in 1978 as a non-profit gallery. In 1986 this gallery was converted into the Art Association Giannozzo , whose managing director and artistic director he was until 2007.

Rolf Langebartels was active as a curator and organizer of exhibitions and festivals in the field of sound and performance (art) .
