Mount Hanssen is a 3280 m high and icy mountain with a conspicuously pointed peak in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Queen Maud Mountains it rises at the southernmost point of the Rawson Plateau .
The Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen discovered the mountain in November 1911 while marching to the geographic South Pole as part of his Antarctic expedition (1910–1912). He named it after Helmer Hanssen (1870-1956), who was involved in the successful South Pole March.
