The 1st Powerchairhockey World Championship was held from June 11th to 13th, 2004 in Finland . The games took place in Helsinki .
The title of the first world champion in Powerchair Hockey went to the Netherlands , which clearly defeated Germany in the final . Bronze went to Italy . Spain decided not to participate. All games of the Spaniards were rated with an opponent's victory.
The world championship was still under the name IWAS World Championship . Since 2017 it has been called the IPCH World Championship ( I WAS P ower c hair H ockey World Championship).
