The 4th Powerchairhockey World Championship took place in Italy from October 24th to 1st, 2018 . The games were played in Lignano Sabbiadoro . Lignano Sabbiadoro hosted the 2010 World Cup .

The defending champions are the Netherlands . The USA would have participated as America representative for the first time. On April 15, 2018, the United States decided not to participate due to a lack of time and money. Canada is now moving up, and they have immediately confirmed their participation. The Asia representative Japan also decided not to participate. In return, Switzerland moved up in the world rankings 6th.

Italy, who defeated Denmark, became world champion after a penalty shootout. The Netherlands missed the final for the first time and finished third with a win against Germany . The Switzerland defeated in the first round surprise the reigning world champions Netherlands. It was only the second defeat for the Dutch in their entire international history. Due to the poorer goal difference in the direct encounters between teams with the same point, Switzerland narrowly missed the semi-finals. In the end, they finished fifth, which is their best result in their history. The World Cup newcomer Canada and the team from Australia suffered heavy defeats against the European teams. In the game for 7th place Canada could at least celebrate their first World Cup victory and thus avoid last place.
