Ion Pățan

Ion Pățan (born December 1, 1926 in Daia Română , Alba district ) is a former Romanian politician of the Romanian Workers' Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) , who was a member of the Political Executive Committee between 1974 and 1987 of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PCR. He also held numerous ministerial offices and was First Deputy Prime Minister from 1975 to 1982 and Ambassador to Czechoslovakia between 1987 and 1989 .

Life

Pățan completed after attending school from 1945 to 1948 a professional training as an accountant at the vocational school in Alba Iulia and in 1948 a non-university course at the commercial academy in Brașov . He then worked from 1948 to 1951, first as an accountant and then from 1951 to 1952 as head of accounting at the " Simion Bărnuțiu " factory in Sebeş . In 1952 he moved to the Ministry of Light Industry, where between 1952 and 1956 he was successively cabinet director, advisor, general inspector and finally head of the control body.

In 1953 Pățan became a member of the People's Council of Bucharest and in 1955 joined the PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) workers' party . Between 1956 and 1962 he acted as Director General for Planned Economy of the Ministry for the Consumer Goods Industry and was also a member of the local party committee. He was also a member and president of the Permanent Planning and Finance Commission of the Executive Committee of the People's Council of Bucharest. Subsequently, he was initially between April 24, 1962 and March 10, 1964 Secretary General of the Ministry of Light Industry and from March 10, 1964 to June 25, 1965 Vice Minister for Light Industry.

After his return, he succeeded Gheorghe Paraschiv as Minister of Finance (Ministrul Finanțelor) on March 28, 1989, and held this ministerial office after the revolution in December 1989 until he was replaced by Theodor Stolojan on June 28, 1990.
