Iosif Banc

Iosif Banc (born March 3, 1921 in Aluniş , Mureş district ; † January 26, 2007 ) was a Romanian politician of the Romanian Communist Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) , who was among others between 1965 and 1972 Vice Prime Minister, from 1972 to 1973 and again from 1979 to 1989 member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCR and from 1979 to 1989 a member of the Political Executive Committee of the Central Committee of the PCR.

Life

Forest worker, World War II and party official

After attending school, from 1936 to 1942, Banc worked as a forest worker in various forestry operations in the Mureștal and then entered military service in the air defense artillery regiment No. 4 in Brașov during the Second World War in 1942 , to which he belonged until 1945.

After the end of the war he worked as a farm worker until 1948 and in 1947 he joined the then Communist Party PCR (Partidul Comunist din România) as a member. In 1948 he was first secretary of the city party committee in Deda and then successively responsible for organization, instructor and vice secretary of the party committee in Mureș County. In the meantime, he also completed a degree in economics at the Academy for Economic Studies.

During his work as an instructor at the Central Committee of the PMR from 1950 to 1953, Banc completed studies at the party university " Ștefan Gheorghiu " between 1951 and 1952 and was then first secretary of the Oradea Party Committee from 1953 to 1958 . At the seventh party congress of the PMR from December 23 to 28, 1955, he was elected candidate for the Central Committee of the PMR.

Deputy and member of the Central Committee

In 1957 he became a member of the Grand National Assembly (Marea Adunare Națională) for the first time and was a member of it until 1989.
