The medal for the 25th anniversary of the liberation of the fatherland ( Romanian A XXV-a aniversare a eliberării patriei ) was a state award of the Socialist Republic of Romania . The foundation took place on July 23, 1969 by decree 546 of the Council of State ( Consiliul de stat ). The publication of the statutes was announced in the Romanian State Gazette ( Buletinul oficial ) No. 83 and 64. The medal was donated as a visible anniversary badge for 25 years of the “social and national anti-fascist liberation revolution”, ie the communist seizure of power, in a class. The award was given to people who had made a special contribution to “ building socialism ” in Romania. Furthermore, according to the statutes, the medal could also be awarded to people who had made merit in the fight against National Socialism and fascism in 1944 . Finally, the medal could also be awarded to those who had made a name for themselves in introducing and strengthening the “ people's democratic force ” in Romania.

Appearance and wearing style

The one-class silver patinated medal has the shape of a twelve-pointed star. The central medallion, which is separated from the star by a ring, shows the inscription within two oak leaves: REPUBLICA SOCIALISTIA ROMANIA A XXV / ANIVERSARE / A ELIBERARII / PATRIEI . The reverse , on the other hand, shows the date in the middle medallion and within two laurel branches: 23 / AUGUST / 1944/1969 .

The medal was worn on the left chest of the entrant on a 31 mm wide white ribbon. A red central stripe is woven into the middle of the ribbon. The hem consists of the national colors of Romania red-yellow-blue on both sides.
