Constantin Mitea

Constantin Mitea (born December 2, 1920 in Călărași ; † December 17, 2002 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian politician of the Romanian Workers' Party PMR (Partidul Muncitoresc Român) and from 1965 of the PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) .

Life

Constantin Mitea graduated from the University of Commerce and Industry in Bucharest in 1940 and then worked as a secretary and until 1943 as a teacher at the commercial school in his native Călărași. He then attended the school for reserve officers in Ploieşti from 1943 to 1945 and in 1945 worked briefly as an assistant teacher at the boys' school in Călăraşi. He then began working as a journalist and in April 1946 became editor of the daily newspaper Ialomița Liberă . In December 1946 he became a member of the Communist Party of Romania PCR (Partidul Comunist din România) and in 1947 became a reporter for the economic department of the daily Scînteia , the party organ of the PCR. After he became head of the business editorial department in 1952 and head of the feature section in 1964 , he was appointed a member of the editorial board and head of the editorial office for civil affairs at Scînteia in February 1965 .

After studying at the party college " Ștefan Gheorghiu " Mitea became deputy editor-in-chief of the party newspaper Scînteia in 1965 . On July 11, 1969 he became a candidate of the (Central Committee) of the PCR at a plenary session of the Central Committee . In 1970 he also took over the post of deputy editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Contemporanul and supported the essayist Ileana Bratu , whose works he published. On the other hand, he was instrumental in the fact that film and theater critic Dinu Kivu had to leave the editorial board of Contemporanul on October 15, 1971 . At another plenary session on July 21, 1972, he became a member of the Central Committee of the PCR and was a member of this body until Nicolae Ceaușescu was overthrown in the course of the Romanian Revolution on December 22, 1989. In 1977 he finally became editor-in-chief of the party newspaper Scînteia and in February 1977 also adviser to the Secretary General of the PCR, Nicolae Ceaușescu. In 1980 he also became a member of the Grand National Assembly (Marea Adunare Națională) , where he initially represented constituency No. 6 Costești and most recently between 1985 and 1989 constituency No. 7 Topoloveni .

In August 1983 he moved to the party headquarters and was also deputy head of the Central Committee's department for propaganda, press and radio until December 22, 1989. Mitea was also between October 5, 1987 and June 28, 1988 secretary of the Central Committee of the Partidul Comunist Român. Mitea has received several awards for his longstanding services, including the Order of Labor Third and Second Class (Ordinul Muncii) , the Star of the Socialist Republic of Romania Fifth and Fourth Class (Ordinul Steaua Republicii Socialiste România) and the Order of August 23, Third Class (Ordinul August 23) .
