history

SimBin began its work under the direction of Ian Bell in 2002 as a modding team for F1 Challenge 99-02 , which developed an FIA-GT-2002 add-on. The SimBin company was founded in 2003 and has been developing realistic racing simulations since then . The GTR series with the previously published games GTR , its successor GTR² and the offshoot GT Legends with historic racing vehicles, as well as Race - The WTCC Game and its successor Race07 , achieved great popularity . During the development of GT Legends, a large part of the development team split off and re-founded a new studio, Blimey! Games in London, under the direction of Ian Bell. Despite internal tensions, at the urging of the publisher 10tacle Studios and under the direction of SimBin , Blimey! Games successfully completed the product and also continued to work significantly on GTR2. Then the two teams parted ways.

As a further development of Race07 , GTR Evolution was released in Germany on August 21, 2008 , which is available both as an add-on to Race07 and as an independent game with the content of Race07 . This mainly includes GT racing cars and the Nürburgring Nordschleife . On September 19, 2008, another add-on for Race07, STCC - The Game, came onto the market. STCC - The Game represents the Swedish Touring Car Championship and includes all tracks and vehicles used in this championship. This game was also released as a full version with the content of Race07 . In October 2009 a new game was released with Race On , which is also based on Race07 and is also available as an add-on to Race07 . On March 31, 2010 SimBin announced a new game as the successor to GTR² . In 2011 several Add On Packs for Race07 were released, namely Formula Raceroom, STCC - The Game 2, the GT Power Pack, The Retro Expansion and The WTCC 2010 Expansion.

In November 2011 KW Automotive and Simbin announced a partnership in which Simbin received chassis data from racing from KW. In March 2012, Henrik Roos, one of the three Simbin founders, stepped down from his position as CEO and handed Simbin over to the KW Automotive owner Klaus Wohlfarth. At the same time a Free2Play game was announced.

In September 2014, it was announced that Simbin had declared bankruptcy. After a restructuring process in which 18 employees were made redundant, COO Christopher Speed founded the new company Sector 3 Studios with a new headquarters in Gothia Science Park in Skövde , which continued work on the previous Simbin developments.
