Simon Birmingham
Simon John Birmingham (born June 14, 1974 in Ashford , South Australia ) is an Australian politician.
Life
Birmingham studied business administration at the University of Adelaide and then worked in the wine and tourism industries. As a member of the Liberal Party of Australia he was elected in the 2007 parliamentary elections in Australia , Birmingham was elected to the Australian Senate as Senator for the state of South Australia.
In September 2015 he was appointed to the cabinet of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Minister of Education and Training. Birmingham remained in this office until August 2018, when it became Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment.
Politically, Birmingham is considered close to the moderate wing of his party and an ally of Malcolm Turnbull.
