Simon Hohenegger (born January 13, 1898 in Dachau ; † May 21, 1990 there ) was a German painter .

Live and act

He was the first of four children of Simon Hohenegger and his wife Magdalena. The father was a worker, the mother a housewife. After attending elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a painter. In 1928 Simon Hohenegger married Sofie Hartmann. The marriage resulted in a son, the important painter Alfred Hohenegger (* 1928) , who has lived in Rome since 1954 .

Simon Hohenegger, whose drawing talent showed itself very early on, was self-taught. He painted numerous oil paintings, preferring the small format, with motifs from the Dachau landscape. The colors are clearly accentuated and sometimes juxtaposed with strong contrasts, yet they combine the motif into a unit. Its sky and cloud formations are particularly valued.
