Simon Townshend (born October 10, 1960 in London ) is a British guitarist , singer and songwriter . He is the younger brother of Pete Townshend .

Townshend released two solo albums in the 1980s, including his debut Sweet Sound (1983) and Moving Target (1985). After founding his own record label Stir Music in 1996, he released various other studio and live albums.

In 1996 and 1997 he first joined The Who for their Quadrophenia tour as second guitarist. In 2002 he joined the band as a full member and has since accompanied them on their tours. At the beginning of 2005 he founded Casbah Club together with other musicians , with whom he played at concerts in 2006, initially as a support act for The Who and then with the band itself.

Simon Townshend has three children with his wife Janie.
