Simon of Jerusalem

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simon (also Simon of Jerusalem ; † after 1115 ) was the first known constable of the Kingdom of Jerusalem .

He is mentioned in two royal documents, 1108 and 1115, as Symon ducis filius . He is equated with Simontus , mentioned by Anna Komnena as the envoy of King Baldwin I from Jerusalem to Tripoli , where he received Byzantine ambassadors in 1108. There he is referred to as the king's cousin. As a result, he was possibly a son of Duke Heinrich of Lower Lorraine and a maternal grandson of Count Eustach I of Boulogne .
