Simonas-Daukantas-Platz
The daukanto square ( lithuanian Simono Daukanto aikštė ) is a place in the Old Town of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius . The square was named after the historian Simonas Daukantas (1793–1864). There is the Presidential Palace across from Vilnius University . The Vilnius bishop's residence has been in the building since the 16th century. Later the Vilnius Governor General resided here, now the President's Office of Lithuania and the Lithuanian President .
