The old town of Vilnius ( Lithuanian Vilniaus senamiestis , Polish Stare Miasto ) is the oldest district of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius . It lies on the left bank of the Neris and belongs to the Senamiesčio seniūnija community . The old town is 3.59 km². There are 70 streets and cross streets and 1,487 buildings. Vilnius Old Town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994 .
