The Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Center ( lit.Jono Meko Vizualiųjų Menų Centras ) is an avant-garde art center and gallery in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius , in the old town .

history

The center was opened on November 10, 2007 by the Lithuanian filmmaker Jonas Mekas (1922–2019). The premiere exhibition was "From Futurism to Fluxus " ( The Avant-Garde: From Futurism to Fluxus ). Part of the purchased Fluxus art collection of 2,600 pieces is on display for the public in the center. The entire Fluxus collection is worth $ 5.6 million.

In 2013 there was an exhibition Bread and drawings by the painter, poet and philosopher Giuseppe Zevola (* 1952) from Naples .
