The Singapore People's Party (abbreviated SPP ; chin . : 新加坡 人民 党; mal . : Parti Rakyat Singapura) is one of the opposition parties in Singapore . It was founded in 1994. The chairman is former MP Chiam See Tong . The party was part of the Singapore Democratic Alliance until March 2011 . In the May 2011 election, Chiam's wife Lina Chiam missed victory by 115 votes in her husband's former constituency.
