Sine pump

Sinus pump in action (PLC pump from Masosine)

A sinus pump is a pump developed by Manfred Sommer in 1982 .

nature

The pump consists of a wave-shaped arched disc (rotor; a disc milled from the solid with a wave in the form of a sinusoidal oscillation with two periods), which rotates between two fixed semi-cylindrical stators. A slide (also called a scraper or gate ) sits like a comb on the disc between the pressure and suction ports . For this purpose, the slide has an incision for receiving the rotor disk and, when the rotor rotates, slides back and forth in an axial direction in a guide cartridge seated in the pump housing. It seals the pressure side from the suction side.

use

Sinus pumps are ideal for pumping food . They are suitable for the particularly gentle, low-pulsation pumping of liquids with large, lumpy components and also with shear-sensitive ingredients. In addition, these pumps are used in various areas such as breweries, beverage manufacturers, cosmetic companies and the chemical industry.

function

Due to the wave shape of the rotor , with each revolution, together with the stators, a chamber is created four times (alternating with each of the stators) through which the conveyed product is pushed. The “chambers” run in the pump housing between the stators on the outside to the pressure side - the scraper closes the short connection or the pressure and suction side from each other. At the same time, by moving back and forth like a piston, the scraper forces the rotor bearings to be lubricated by means of product or flushed when cleaning the pump.
