Sionan (mythology)
Sionan is the name of a legendary figure from the Celtic mythology of Ireland .
Similar to the tradition about the Boyne and the river goddess Boann , Sionan is said to have been involved in the creation of the Shannon . Sionan, a granddaughter of the sea god Lir , desecrated the secret "source of knowledge" that belonged to him out of curiosity and was therefore banished to the water of the spring as a punishment . This created a river that got her name.
