Manglissier Sioni

Manglissier Sioni or Manglissis Sioni ( Georgian მანგლისის სიონი ; mɑnglɪsɪs sɪɔnɪ ) is a Georgian Orthodox cathedral in the Lower Cartlia region , in the Tetri Zqaros Munizipaliteti , near the town of Manglissi .

The first church in Manglissi was built in the 4th century. The current cathedral dates from the 6th – 7th centuries. Century. In 1002 it was extensively restored. In 1850 the Russians repaired it again. During this last restoration, the walls were painted white, the frescoes were destroyed. The painting is only partially present in the dome.

In the Manglissier Sioni Cathedral there are still old Georgian inscriptions .
