The Siorak Brook (former name: Siugak Brook ) is an approximately 83 km long tributary of the Labrador Sea in the north of Labrador in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador .

River course

The Siorak Brook has its origin in a 300  m high nameless lake. It initially flows about 10 km to the west and another 15 km to the southwest. It takes in two larger tributaries coming from the west and turns on the lower 60 kilometers towards east-southeast. Eventually the river reaches a small estuary on the north bank of Okak Bay across from the Okak Islands . The catchment area of the Siorak Brook covers 1072 km². This consists of a low hilly landscape with subarctic tundra .

Fish fauna

At river kilometer 8.1 there is a 2.1 m high waterfall which is considered a partial obstacle to fish migration in Siorak Brook. At river kilometer 46.7 there is a 4.6 m high vertical waterfall, which makes the upstream river system inaccessible to migratory fish . In the lower reaches of the Siorak Brook there are arctic char that overwinter there.
