Sissy Geiger

Sissy Geiger (* 7. October 1938 in Graz as Sissy Gierke ) is a German politician (CDU). She was a member of the German Bundestag from 1992 to 1994.

Geiger graduated from high school Sacre Coeur in Graz and then studied art history and archeology at the universities of Graz and Innsbruck. After completing her doctorate, she initially worked in her parents' cinema. She studied a catalog raisonné by Oskar Kokoschka and worked in a gallery from 1985 to 1987.

Geiger joined the CDU in 1970 and became chairwoman of the CDU Women's Association in Darmstadt in 1975. In Darmstadt she was also the district chairman of her party. From 1977 she was the city councilor and from 1990 deputy parliamentary group leader of the CDU. After the death of the Bundestag member Franz-Hermann Kappes, Geiger moved up into the twelfth electoral term of the Bundestag and was a member of the committee for women and youth and for petitions. She was not nominated again for the next parliamentary term.
