The Sisters' Islands ( Chinese姐妹 岛, Pinyin Jiěmèidǎo ; Malay Pulau Subar Laut or Pulau Subar Darat ; Tamil Sakotharigal Theevu ) are two islands in the south of Singapore . They are in the Strait of Singapore .

location

The two islands are located in the south of the Singaporean national territory. You are about 5.5 km from the main island. The closest Indonesian island is around 6.6 km away, while Batam is 12.5 km away. The two islands are separated by a canal. The currents in this channel are very strong .

Legend

The two islands, called Pulau Subar Laut and Pulau Subar Darat, came to be known as sister islands due to legend. Legend has it that two sisters drowned at sea while trying to help each other when one of them was kidnapped by pirates. The morning after, the two islands were suddenly at that point.

tourism

The islands are popular with tourists. Above all, snorkelers visit the island because of the blue water and white beaches . Singapore's most beautiful reefs are also located here . Even campers visit the island.
