On September 1, 1907, the large landowner Alfons Grafen Mensdorf-Poully and the engineer Rudolf Czeczowiczka were granted the concession to build and operate the local railway from Skalitz-Boskowitz to Groß-Opatowitz. The company's share capital totaled 3,250,000 crowns: the line was opened on May 18, 1908. The operation was carried out by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) on behalf of the owners.

After the collapse of Austria-Hungary in October 1918, management was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

On January 1, 1941, the Skalitz-Boskowitz-Großopatowitz local railway was nationalized.

The route still exists. Today it belongs to the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).
