Sloan Gibson

Sloan D. Gibson (* 1951-52 in Washington, DC ) is an American politician since February 2014 Deputy Minister in the Department of Veterans Affairs of the United States and from 30 May 2014 to 30 July 2014 after the resignation of Eric K. Shinseki kommissarisch its minister.

Life

Gibson served as an infantry officer in the United States Army. He is married (Margaret) and has two daughters (Celia and Laura).

He holds degrees from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University .

Career

On February 11, Gibson was appointed as the new Deputy Secretary of the War Veterans Department, replacing Scott Gould .

After the scandal in the Veterans Health Administration in May 2014 and the subsequent resignation of Eric Shinseki as minister, Gibson was appointed as the new minister on a temporary basis by US President Obama. On July 30, 2014, he moved back to the second tier after Robert A. McDonald took office . After Donald Trump took office in 2017, he left the government.
